Take Down the Walls

This transitional style home was built in the era of more walls! The kitchen was spacious, and included an eat-in breakfast nook, but was closed off to the rest of the house. The temperature in the kitchen and dining room also fluctuated with the overall temps outside due to inadequate vents and returns.

With their growing family, the client decided that it was time to take down the wall separating the kitchen from the dining room and rearrange the floor-plan to optimize the space.

The cabinets were removed, and reused, to create the island in the kitchen as well as storage in the laundry room and pantry. A Blanco Silgranite Diamond sink, in Metallic Gray compliment the beautiful LG Viatera Nimbus quartz counter-tops. White, Kemper Cabinetry and over-sized subway tile back-splash provide an elegant and neutral background.

Under-cabinet lighting and electrical outlets were installed for both functionality and discreetness. Acacia Hand-scraped flooring, in Helmsley, were extended throughout to tie both spaces, seamlessly together.
